Crucian Carp are a shy UK native fish genetically similar to Common carp. They can in fact interbreed with common carp resulting in a hybrid species commonly referred to as an 'F1'.
Crucian carp don't grow to the same large sizes as the common carp have gentle feeding habits. They will happily feed on surface foods as well as foraging around at the bottom for invertebrates.
During summer months they will be in small shoals often feeding at night in the margins, but in winter they will be found in deeper water shoaled together in large numbers. Crucian carp are extremely tolerant of both low water temperatures and low oxygen levels. Therefore they are an extremely hardy pond fish.
Preferred Water Conditions: Will acclimatize to a wide range of conditions. pH: 6.5-8.0
Temperature: Cold water-temperate between 2-20°C
