About us

Heron Fisheries (a division of Cheshire Eco Solutions Ltd) are based in Runcorn, Cheshire.  We are a CEFAS registered Live Fish Supplier (Permit Reference TP/EE073-E-818/14765/01).  We are able to supply a wide selection of native fish species and can cater for a full range of customer requirements from individual fish up to large numbers of fish for stocking fisheries.  We are happy to deal with businesses, clubs and individuals.  We can deliver fish if required or can facilitate collection from our own sites.  All customers purchasing fish for stocking into fisheries must have the relevant CEFAS registration and Environment Agency Site Permits in place.  This will define the fish species that we are able to supply.

We supply large grown on fish from our CEFAS registered Aquatic Holding Facilities in Cheshire. Species such as Mirror and Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) in the 2 - 8lb size range and Tench (Tinca tinca) in the 1—2lb size are perfect for stocking into fisheries but can be difficult to source.  We are able to grow fish on to these sizes in our natural pools rather than in heavily managed stock ponds.  We also offer numerous species of juvenile coarse fish from our smaller stock ponds including pure-bred Crucian Carp (Carassius carassius), a pretty little fish popular with UK anglers which breed well in our stock ponds. Crucian Carp are becoming less widespread due to issues with habitat loss, inter-breeding with King Carp and competition in mixed fisheries.  We usually have Crucian Carp in the 2-6 inch size range available for sale with larger fish available occasionally. We are happy to advise customers on stocking levels and suitable mixtures of species to meet their individual requirements.

We are also able to offer specific Fisheries management advice for issues that may arise plus on-site water quality monitoring (biological and chemical), algal monitoring and fish removals.  As part of Cheshire Eco Solutions Ltd we have access to our own purpose built aquatic laboratory and have years of experience in aquatic testing and fishery management.

We provide tailored advice, consultancy and scientific services in fisheries management to meet customers unique needs. From on-site aquatic surveys to bespoke sampling programmes, our services can be customised to suit your project perfectly.
